We are seeking for experienced people for the following position:


1. EXPRESSION OF INTERESTS FOR ENGINEER MINING AND SENIOR ENGINEER MINING - 925052
(Jakarta & Site Based)
Some of your duties will include:

Site based
  • Mine planning and technical support at a site level to maximize productivities in the most cost effective, efficient and safe manner,
  • Organize and provide direction for junior engineers.
  • Monitor progress and ensure targets set by the project are met on time and at a Thiess quality.
  • Communicate and direct technical aspects of the operation to mining operations and management teams.
Jakarta based
  • Provide support to site technical services teams across Asia. Managing and producing mine planning outputs for Clients and Thiess – focused around longer term and strategic mine planning.
  • Provide mine planning inputs for tendering new business across the Asia business unit. Liaise with Clients and estimators to provide necessary data for pricing.
  • Liaise with Client corporate and site based technical teams to support Clients in developing and optimizing mine plans and strategies.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Minimum of Bachelor degree of Mining Engineering or Geology with minimum of 3 years’ experience for mine engineer and 5 years’ experience for senior mine engineer in open pit mining operations, prior Thiess experience will be highly regarded.
  • Proficient in mining principles, mine design concepts & operations in both coal and/or metal ferrous mines, mine operation regulatory requirements, proven skills in geological modeling and mine scheduling softwares. Minescape, Xpac, Deswik, Vulcan will be highly regarded;
  • Possess government certification of POP (Pratama Competency Test) or POM,
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, good analytical, responsible and adaptable.
  • Proficient communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English, both verbal and written. Strong English skills will be highly regarded.

2. SPECIALIST BUSINESS SYSTEM - 924977
(Jakarta Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Providing daily support function of Business Systems section to provide services in implementation, development, and maintenance of mining systems.
  • Establishing support includes set up on project, requirement gathering, business process mapping and design, problem investigation and analysis, functional specs, User training delivery, monitor the integrity of the system & maintenance, coaching & on-site support (if required) and liaise with System Support in Thiess Global Mining Business.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Bachelor degree qualification in Engineering with 2-4 years’ experience in Mining Systems and Technology Area.
  • Providing Leadership in managing Mining System and Technology area.
  • Capability in managing project implementation (Technologies and Innovation).
  • Capability in managing business process and user requirement as part of Functional documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of GIS, Mining System and Technology (Including Fleet Management systems and HPGPS) ; Strong Technical Computer Skill, strong english Skill (Including Writing and Conversation)

3. COORDINATOR SAFETY - 925195
(Sangatta Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Provide direction, advice, assistance and materials to Department Heads to helps them fulfil their Safety responsibilities;
  • Leasing with the project Safety Superintendent to identify programs to ensure Safety compliance;
  • Conducting internal monthly audits of all department and subcontractor;
  • Formulating continues safety improvement program and monitor of the implementation of the program;
  • Participating in and conducting risk assessments and participating in risk assessment programmes were required; 
  • Promoting safety through safety training, coaching supervisor to build their capability with regard to work safely; 
  • Ensuring that accurate Safety records are always available for Auditing.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Have a minimum Tertiary Education or Strata 1 from Occupational Health and Safety discipline.
  • 5 years’ experience in open pit coal mining area as Safety Coordinator position.
  • Having strong knowledge about Safety, Health & Quality (HSQ) Standard, OHSAS 18001, SMK3, SMKP, Safety Auditor, risk management process; familiar with Safety management at all levels.
  • Strong leadership, self-motivated, honest, ability to influence, innovative and problem solving, good behaviour and can work individually and team work; Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.

4. COORDINATOR TRAINING - 925176
(Sangatta Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • To coordinate responsibility for general site training activity & on-job assessment coordination for Project all personnel’s in order to increase their productivity, and repair capabilities
  • To coordinate with Managers/Superintendents/Supervisors each department related to compliance of mandatory training;
  • To coordinate, communicate and liaise with related parties for make a plan and organize training also to ensure compliance of training system and procedures;
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Tertiary Degree from HR, Industrial Engineering, Management, or S2 prost graduated, with minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role as Training Coordinator, or Trainer / HR. 
  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills-written & verbal English and Bahasa Indonesian presents arguments, strong leadership, act decisively, team player, can work under pressure situation, problem solving and negotiation, self-motivated, have a good planning skill and high initiatives, familiar to handle general admin task and good computer skills.

5. SUPERINTENDENT DEWATERING – 925200
(East Kalimantan Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Planning organizing and coordinating all rehabilitation and dewatering activities in accordance with overall mining project objectives.
  • Monitoring and reconciling all technical aspects of project rehabilitation and pumping operations.
  • Maximizing pump field utilization to achieve targets above 90% pump mechanical availability
  • Maximizing utilization and effectiveness of all rehabilitation equipment (above 95%).
  • Leading and motivating the operational rehabilitation and dewatering team to achieve stated objectives.
  • Produce regular written reports for of all site pumping and rehabilitation activities.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • 8 years experiences in large open cut mining operation which at least 3 years in production or service supervision or management role in similar role.
  • Preferable applicant is an expatriate.
  • Cross Cultural Management sensitivity coupled with relevant overseas experience would be well regarded as would prior exposure to assisting with managing relationships with a client mining house.
  • A demonstrated hands-on disposition will be essential but equally important will be your communication and interpersonal skills, resilience and flexibility as well as your ability to develop and maintain a performance driven culture to ensure success in a constantly challenging environment.
  • Ability to work on a fly-in-out overseas mine site

6. SENIOR GEOLOGIST – 925070
(Melak Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Provide a range of geological and geotechnical analysis for mining activities.
  • conduct geological and geotech analysis and provide solution to any stability issues. 
  • providing mine planning and production personnel with data on the geological and geotech conditions predicted for mining.
  • ensuring maximum coal recovery in the most cost effectively and safe manner. 
  • maintain coordination level with Site Geologist and Geotech Engineer to get more accurate recommendation
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Bachelor degree of Geology or Geotechnical Engineering with minimum of 8 years’ experience in open pit coal mining operation, previous experience at a mine site preferred and minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role as Sr. Engineer Geologist and or Geotechnical.
  • Proficient in mining principles, mining design concepts & operations in both coal, mine operation regulatory requirements. 
  • heavy machinery operations practices, Mincom or similar packages; possess government certification of POP (Pratama Competency Test).
  • strong leadership and interpersonal skills, good analytical, adaptable and fast learner person. Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written; and computer literate.

7. ENGINEER MINE PLANNING (PRODUCTION AND ANALYSIS) – 925122
(Melak Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Propose the most applicable design and the best option.
  • Forecasting the production target and most likely achievement based on detailed report.
  • Analyze Performance and offer the best applicable solutions.
  • Produce Mining Progress’s Report which include but not limited by Haul distance and Production report.
  • Produce Analysis Report on daily Production.
  • Coordination with client and mining team to avoid operation issue.
  • Updating applied design and base surface for volume calculation.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Minimum of Bachelor degree of Mining Engineering with minimum of 5 years’ experience in open pit coal mining operation, previous experience at a mine site is preferred with minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role as Engineer Mine Planning.
  • Understanding of Mining and Construction Technology, Engineering Principles, and Mining Equipment and Applications; understanding and demonstrate of Engineering Software, Computer Data Management; A proven skills in allowable software on site to build plan and production control and monitoring, e.g. : Microsoft Office Word, Power point and Excel, Minescape-Core, Open Cut Data Capture (OCDC), Info mine.
  • To demonstrate as a problem solver for routine or new problem; good analytical; responsible and adaptable; excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written; and computer literate.

8. SURVEYOR - 925084
(Melak Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Responsibility for the efficient utilization of the laser scanner, adopted survey techniques for point cloud data capture and data management systems across his/her daily functions.
  • Ensure that all survey personnel are suitably trained to recognize the hazards associated with machine interaction whilst performing survey tasks.
  • Assist to provide high quality and appreciated Survey services, including tender advice, project start up capability and on-going monthly reconciliation support.
  • Develop and implement efficient practices using available resources and technology.
  • Identify and recommend alternate solutions, which may provide more efficient outcomes and greater profitability.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Applicants should have a minimum Tertiary qualifications in Surveying / Geodetic Engineering with 5 years’ experience as Surveyor.
  • Proficient in construction technology, Engineering and Surveying Principles, Surveying Equipment and applications (Perform a proper usage of Total Station, GPS, Laser scanner, etc.); , Engineering and Surveying software (Terramodel), industry standards and best practice, computer data management and manipulation (Perform a proper data processing); should Understanding of various types of highway construction components such as substructure, superstructure, embankment etc.; understand and implement the Design & Project Management Plan; understand the approval process for Design Approvals; team culture and experience in design management.
  • Accordance with the Standards, Specifications, Schedules, QA/QC, Safety, Environmental and Programme requirements and are within budgeted cost levels.
  • Independent and mature personality, self-motivated, results driven and good negotiation skills; high initiative; performance driven; good planning skill; good communication skills and proficient in written and spoken English.

9. SUPERVISOR MINING - 925069
(Melak Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Coordinating all line supervisions in the workplace of the removal of overburden/inter-burden in a safe, effective manner on time and within budget in a designated area.
  • To actively coordinate with trainer to achieve productivity and production. 
  • To lead, organise and provide direction for employees to ensure outstanding performance is achieved in people performance, HSE&Q outcomes and the business results. Set an example for all in the workplace to follow in safety, leadership, attendance and personal behaviour.
  • Maintain and facilitate clear communication with all stakeholders, clients, customers, suppliers with respect to operational capability, performance, and resource requirements.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Degree in Mining Engineering; requires a minimum 5 years’ professional experience in similar role as Supervisor Mining in large open cut mining operation. 
  • Mining heavy industry experience is essential; could operate mining equipment.
  • Good leadership and people management skills preferably with training in staff supervision, have ability in resource planning and OHS&E supervision; excellent interpersonal and communication skills for both oral and written in English; be able to operate computer; conflict resolution; sound decision making skills; Posses POP (Pengawas Operasional Pratama) certification at Mine and Energy Department; be able to work on shift roster (day and night shift).

10. SENIOR ENGINEER MINE PLANNING – 925201
(Wahana Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Contribute to TCI Plant Objectives through the establishment and ongoing refinement of a best practice model for supporting on Lifting Equipment component.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative data of the reserve and manipulate reserve to account for mining practices; mining methods and selectivity, handling, blending and transport of coal.
  • Create and maintain a schedule database for excavation and dump sequence.
  • Define the equipment and time resources required for the mine and report on requirements, produce scheduling outputs for clients.
  • Provide mine planning inputs for tendering new business.
  • Liaise with clients and estimating to provide necessary data for pricing. In geological, you will calculate reserves and report.
  • Analyze model data and prepare graphical information showing the nature of the deposit; liaise with client on preparation of working model & ensure relevant new pit data are incorporated into the next working model; reconciliation – comparison between model, survey & actual; ensure geotechnical issues are highlighted and controls implemented; design according to the best available geotechnical advice.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Mining or Geology Engineering Degree; with minimum 5 years’ experience in large open cut mining and mine engineering.
  • Outstanding proficiency in geological modeling and mine planning and other general office software (Microsoft).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for both oral and written in English.
  • Good understanding in mining principles, mine design concepts and mining methods an awareness of mine operation regulatory requirements.

11. ENGINEER DRILL & BLAST – 925202
(East Kalimantan Based)

Some of your duties will include:
  • Provide drill & blast planning service which guides the mining operation towards the long term & profitability.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly planning to support production target in most cost effective way in safety manner.
  • Provide daily and monthly report for drill and blast actual production including but not limited to total drill depth, total blasted volume, explosive usage, drill and blast cost.
  • Control drill and blast activities to avoid any operational issues, e.g. hard digging case, coal losses, mining delay, standby equipment, and blasting permit.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Applicants should have a minimum Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering with 5 years’ experience in similar role as engineer drill & blast; hold certificate Blaster Class II; understanding of Mining and Construction Technology, Mining Equipment and Applications, Engineering Principles; understanding and demonstrate of Engineering software and Computer Data Management; possess government certification of POP (Pratama Competency Test).
  • Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and proficient in computer literacy; strong leadership; self-motivated; team player; supportive; innovative, problem solving, think strategically; communicative; and able to work under pressure are preferred character traits.
